It is the time of the month when I usually share my beauty faves for last month but this month I am going to do a Beauty roundup for 2016 and share my most loved products last year. This post doesn’t share any new launches of 2016 but will tell you the products I enjoyed using most.
So, without further ado, let’s jump straight into it 🙂
Skincare
Exfoliating Toner: Pixi Glow Tonic without doubt stands above any toners I have. This is a game changer in my skincare. This has helped me get rid of congested skin on a regular basis. If you follow me on Instagram ( here ), you already know my love for this toner. Highly recommend introducing this to your skincare, if you haven’t already!
Moisturiser: I have been wanting to try Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel for the longest time and finally bought this in the last month of the year. I am so glad I did because I haven’t stopped using this since then. I use this as my morning as well as evening moisturiser. It is not sticky and gets absorbed quickly so It is ideal as a morning moisturiser. It doesnot let your makeup slide but keeps you looking well hydrated. This moisturiser has to be one of my key discoveries of 2016.
Face Oil:Â Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse has been my most used facial oil last year. It is a multipurpose dry oil and is not sticky or heavy so it can easily be used on combination to oily skin. I keep a travel size bottle of this oil in my handbag so you can imagine my love for this oil is intense :).
MakeUp
Primer:Â Becca Backlight priming filter has been my most loved primer this year. I love that for dewy naturally-lit, glow from within kind of filter effect on my skin. This primer is so good to fake that healthy glow. It even transforms the look of a flat matte foundation.
Base: Honestly, I prefer tinted moisturisers, bb cream or cc cream over any foundation. I discovered the cult favourite Bourjois Paris 123 Perfect cc cream last year and its been my favourite ever since. This colour collects and gives me perfect coverage along with keeping my skin well hydrated. Its a perfect glowy base I tried in 2016 and is budget friendly too.
Concealers: I wanted to pick just one but I couldn’t. Maybelline Instant Age rewind concealer and Urban Decay Naked skin weightless concealer have been my go-to concealers last year. Maybelline one is perfect as a highlighting concealer and I have been using UD Naked skin weightless concealer to conceal any pigmentation. I just want UD comes with more warm tone shades so I can buy one for highlighting too. These concealers do not crease if set with powder. I usually use Hourglass setting powder or Makeup forever HD powder to set my concealers.
Eyeshadows:Â Colourpop super shock eyeshadow in Sequin is the most gorgeous shimmery pink shadow I discovered in 2016. *Vincent Longo pearl x eyeshadows have been a winner for creating a full eye look with just one eyeshadow pan. Etherea has been my most loved eyeshadow but I was recently gifted Luna Beach too which creates a beautiful purple-teal look. I was surprised how beautifully it transferred on my eyes and glammed me up in just few seconds. Trust me, you dont even need a brush..use your fingers and create a most beautiful sultry smokey eye with these eyeshadows. Highly highly recommend these gorgeous babies. I have also been enjoying Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon eyeshadow stick in Gold Digger(sold out – shop similar colour). Its a beautiful metallic khaki shade and looks gorgeous on most eyes. This has been my go-to product for lining my eyes or using as a smudged liner. It sets quickly and stays until you remove it so definitely a plus.
Eyeliner:Â *Vincent Longo creme/gel eye liner in Golden Orbit was my new love in 2016. As its a gorgeous warm golden shade, it will always be my favourite and that’s beacause Golden shades look stunning on medium and dark skintones. I have Indian ethnicity and its all about gold on most special occasions. This liner sets in seconds so you need to work with this quickly. This is very long lasting so it will not budge even if you have oily eye-lids. Kat Von D Tattoo eyeliner in Trooper has been my another loved product last year. It is jet black and has a brush instead of nib so it is easier to draw a cat-eye flick with this than any liquid liner with nib.
Mascara: Same old same old Maybelline Lash sensational mascara without any surprises!
Lipsticks: Charlotte Tilbury matte revolution lipstick in Bond Girl has been one of my loved purchases of 2016. I do not have any shade like this in my collection and I have noticed I reach for this lipstick quite often than any other lipstick in my collection. Its in between medium and dark lipsticks. Its difficult to describe the shade exactly but I have seen this shade has been one of the best seller from her matte revolution range. My love for Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte lipsticks is well known to my regular readers. The main reason is the comfortable long lasting matte formula that does not wear off immediately after eating oily food. The wear off is gradual and less noticeable with this and this is the reason I chose this for one of the events where i DIDNOT touch up my makeup all night and this lipstick looked amazing in all my photos. Everything Nice and Immortal are my fave shades from this range. Colourpop matte liquid lipstick in Bumble has been my another favourite primarily because of the muted red shade. This lipsticks wear off quickly and can make your lips dry after a while so bear in mind you prep your lips beforehand. But honestly we can’t complain much because these are super affordable.
Face Palettes: Becca Champagne Glow Face Palette (sold out but the blushes and highlighters are back in splits) and Hourglass Ambient Light – Surreal Lighting edit have been my favourite palettes of 2016. Hourglass one is definitely for soft finish while Becca is for days I need to shine :). Becca blushes and highlighters are super pigmented and you need to have a light hand with these. Hourglass powders are for soft focus finish with a soft blushes. Bronzer doesnot show up on my medium skin but i try to mix it with my blusher to make use of it.
These were my ultimate favourite products of 2016. I have some more exciting posts coming up so keep an eye on this space and follow me on Instagram too <3
Until next time…
