Its been a long time since a face palette made me go weak in the knees. Photos of Mac Nutcracker Sweet Holiday collection took the social media by storm mainly because this collection had fabulous packaging and they brought back their best seller (and quickly sold out) limited edition Whisper of Gilt highlighter in the form of one of the face compacts in Copper Sweet Face Compact (sold out online but available at Mac counters). The other option in face compact is Sweet Peach Face compact which has Tutu ( pale white peach) highlighter and At Dusk (warm rose) blush. I decided to try out the Copper one because I really wanted to get my hands on Whisper of Gilt.
If you’re medium skin tone, buying both the compacts would be worth as these retail only for £29 each. For that price you get a blush and a highlighter. Totally a value compact specially for such high quality and from a reputed brand. Still need more justification..no worries, I am going to help :).
Packaging: Packaging is absolutely eye catching as it has an embossed embroidery pattern. The outer packaging has Fuchsia and burgundy stripes making the entire collection stand out.
Shades: The compact contains a Pleasure Model blush and Whisper of Gilt highlighter. Pleasure Model is a terracotta /copper-y orange shade blush with satin finish. Whisper of Gilt is a beautiful light gold highlighter with metallic finish similar to Kiko Water eyeshadow in 208 Light gold.
Pigmentation: Both blush and highlighter powders are intensely pigmented. The blush can be easy to control and can be worn sheerer. The highlighter is very smooth to apply and is not powdery. Its very finely milled and is very soft and buttery to touch.
Longevity: The Extra Dimension Skinfinishes are supposed to have 9-10 hour wear, while the Extra Dimension Blush formula is supposed to have 5-6 hour wear. Both powders stayed on my skin for over 8 hours which is amazing.
Overall thoughts: Both shades make a perfect combination for my medium skin tone. You are getting fabulous best selling products combo at just under £30 which in my opinion is a steal! Definitely worth checking this out.
Until next time…
Ash xoxo
