In the UK, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday during the period of Lent, when people typically give up things like certain foods or bad habits for the days leading up to Easter.
I was not going to do this post as Mother’s Day sometimes can look very commercialized with all the gift sets around. A card with beautiful message is enough to say ‘I love you, Mum’ but if you want to treat your Mum on this occasion, I have got ya’ covered! By the way, my son made me a beautiful card and husband bought me some lovely treats too but trust me, he doesn’t buy anything on most occasions so this one was well accepted, Haha :D.
On to some of the gift suggestions –
Skincare
If I think of my mummy, I would love to treat her with some good products that can help her treat some of her skincare issues. Pigmentation, wrinkles and uneven skintone are main concerns at her age so I think products with anti-ageing actives would benefit her skin and infact many mums out there. Caudalie & Murad skincare are two of the brands that do some lovely anti-ageing products. You may check Caudalie Premier Cru Range (Post) or Murad Skincare Retinol Range (Post). If your mum has dry and dull skin, you should also check Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream as it is so hydrating and gives a beautiful base under makeup plus it also has SPF15. Pestle & Mortar has some lovely skincare and their new Recover eye cream makes a lovely gift too. Sensse Beauty Facial Contour Definer is a mini facial workout at home and makes a lovely gift.
Bodycare
Bodycare products are an easy option as they are always loved and you don’t have to think too much about skin issues etc in most cases. I really like Lola’s Apothecary, Aromatherapy Associates & Mandara Spa products for bodycare. Some of the options are Lola’s Apothecary Delicate Romance Range, Mandara Spa Getaway Bags, Dream Spa Essentials gift set and Aromatherapy Associates Revive or De-stress range.
Haircare
I won’t suggest a lot of fancy products for hair as your mum may have sensitive scalp/ hair fall issues and low maintenance hair in most cases. If scalp or hair are her concerns, I would suggest checking out Grow Gorgeous Haircare as they do some amazing products for thinning hair, scalp issues and hair growth.Your mum may also like a good hair dryer and I feel Lee Stafford Rainbow Shine Hair dryer is powerful enough to just blow dry hair quickly or style them for a fab shine.
Inner Health
Anti-ageing products and skincare work better if supported by good diet and supplements. Collagen is the key building block for everything from the connective tissues of our vital organs to hair, nails and the dermis layer of our skin. Collagen in our body declines with age and this is the reason why fine lines & wrinkles start appearing on our skin. After age 30, our collagen level drops 1%-2% every year. By age 40, we have lost 10%-20% of our collagen. By 50, we are down 20%-40%. By the time we hit 60 – its just isn’t pretty! I recommend checking out Ingenious Beauty’s Award winning Ultimate Collagen+ as this is one of the best ones out there and your mum will appreciate this gift.
Fragrance
Fragrance can be quite personal but you might know which kind of fragrances she likes. My mum doesn’t invest in fragrances so if I have to choose something for her, I would go for The Fragrance Wardrobe – Discovery Collection for Her by Maison Francis Kurkdjian or gift sets like My Burberry Gift Set (Post), Jimmy Choo Gift Set (Post) etc.
Makeup
A lipstick can uplift your makeup look and is an easy gift option too. I would suggest checking out hydrating formulas but low maintenance shades. Charlotte Tilbury has some really lovely lipsticks. My husband recently gifted me Givenchy lipsticks which are also fab.
Accessories
My Mummy works in an office setting and a watch makes a lovely as well as practical gift for working mums. I really like Daniel Wellington Watches specially the mesh strap ones on myself but my mum is older and a leather strap like Daniel Wellington Classic Petite York would look perfect on her wrist. You may use the code MSTANTRUM15 to get 15% off across any purchase on Daniel Wellington website.
Do you plan to gift something special this Mother’s Day? Let me know in the comments below.
Until next time.
