OUAI – What’s hot & What’s not?

OUAI wave spray, dry shampoo foam, ouai hair oilOUAI has been my go-to haircare brand if I talk about luxury. My love affair with the brand started with the Texturizing hair spray and since then I discovered few more amazing products from the brand. Though I have not tried everything from OUAI yet, I still rate the brand quite high when it comes to delivering what it promises. If you’re new to my blog, you can read about some of the OUAI products in my post here and here.

I have also been mentioning about their products on various other posts and social media which indicates strong relationship with certain products. I recently got a chance to try few more products from the brand and I have been testing these out since few weeks to share my opinions with you.

Hair Oil| £24 for 45ml

As an Indian woman, I have been into hair oils since I was a child. A head massage with hair oil is very common in South Asian countries to calm head, to get relief from headache, to improve texture of hair and to soothe dry scalp. Hair oils are great way to add moisture to hair and provide shine if you apply regularly. An overnight hair oil mask works wonders for dry hair. Jen Atkin suggests using this hair oil as an overnight treatment mask and rinse off with your favourite shampoo in the morning. Your hair will be soft and shiny as a result of this treatment.

This is a multitasking oil that smoothes frizz and seals split ends for high-gloss, super-smooth finish. This oil is packed with African Galanga, Ama and Asian Borage oils keep color from fading and protect hair from heat damage which makes it stand out than other hair oils.

  • Multitasking oil
  • Smoothes Frizz and Split-ends
  • Acts as an hair mask for overnight treatment
  • Heat protector
  • Color protector
  • Leaves hair soft not greasy

OUAI dry shampoo foam review

Dry Shampoo Foam| £24 for 150 gms

I really loved the original dry shampoo spray so obviously had high hopes seeing it on Instagram. Dry shampoo foam concept really intrigued me and it felt very wet at first but I kept working into my roots and it disappeared leaving my hair dry and fresh. Unlike typical dry shampoos, this foam never leaves a white cast or a powdery residue. It added a bit of shine to my hair at first but after few hours my hair felt greasy. I have medium to thick hair with dry scalp and usually I get along well with dry shampoos. The foam is very satisfying though but this one may not be for me.

OUAI wave spray review

Wave Spray| £22 for 150 ml

I have naturally wavy and thick hair so wavy hair style is not my thing and I always like sleek straight hair with a bit of shine. The reason I wanted to try this product is the hype it was getting all over social media.  I had to straighten my hair to test this properly and see if it really does what it says! No false claims, this mist instantly made my hair wavy!

This is a weightless texture mist for effortlessly chic, undone hair. This mist is infused with rice protein to add hold and memory for that “just got out of the ocean and my hair dried perfectly” look.

  • Adds volume
  • Instantly creates waves in the hair #clever
  • Adds texture
  • Hair smells fabulous
  • No crunchy or salty feel to hair
  • Does what it says!

All the products in the post are cruelty-free and parabens-free.

Overall thoughts: Every brand has hits and misses so does OUAI. I really like hair oil as well as wave spray but Dry shampoo foam is a miss for me. Though I like straight hair for most occasions, its still great to have a wave spray to freshen up your hair when you want a change in look.

Have you tried any OUAI product? Are you #OUAIAddicted? What is your favourite haircare brand or product and why? Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time
